PRODUCT CATEGORIES

Main Menu > Products > Settings > Product Categories


Product categories can be defined for every product. These product categories are used to configure accounting dimensions, pricing and other relevant information.

You can add them manually (New Product Category button) or you can import the list of categories from the CSV file (Import button) can see more for import from here.

You will see the sample as shown below.

GENERAL TAB

The General tab is used to specify the name and code of the Product Category.

The field Parent Category is used in case subcategories of products are to be defined. This feature is mostly used in the NetForce Ecommerce module. The Product Category is used in the products module and allows follow-up sales by product category.

ACCOUNTING TAB

The Accounting tab is used to set details accounting for product category, there are as follows purchasing account, sales account, and costing method. (if you do not select the account in the product menu, the system will post the account by pulling from here secondly, firstly is financial setting)

Can define your default purchase account and sale account as well as corresponding tax accounts. This will affect how accounting transactions will be recorded and how they will be shown in reports. Including defining your default Inventory accounts and Cost of Goods Sold Account. Also, you can define the costing method for the product. Once done can be saved.

OTHER TAB

Select the company by clicking Add button (In case using multi-company) can specify a specific company for used that Product category.

The Product Category has been created. Can define the product category to the product under that category, can be found at the product's Optional Details. Once done can be saved.
